ACADEMIC
The Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme at Bourne Academy enables our students to make a successful transition into further or higher education, apprenticeships and accredited training in employment.
We offer objective and impartial advice from a range of talks, visits, activities and individual interviews.
We have a dedicated Careers Office located in Sixth Form Study Room for careers information, advice and guidance. All students are welcome to call in and see our Careers Team at any time for an informal chat or to make an appointment.

Careers Event Schedule
The Careers department has the full support of the SLAT Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team so as to create the best careers provision possible for our students as outlined in the calendar of events. The senior member of SLT, with responsibility for Careers meets every week with the department to further develop activities and our careers strategy.

- Careers advice drop-in available every break, lunchtime, before or after school
- Careers library resources available to borrow at all times
- CV checks or support drop ins
- Application checks or support drop ins
- Careers Guidance Interviews with Level 6 trained staff available by appointment
- Early intervention careers sessions available via referral from Pastoral or SEN team
- Workplace visits as part of curriculum teaching including but not limited to:
- Royal Opera House
- Katana Japanese Restaurant
- Mosque/Cathedral trip
- Geography fieldwork
- National Space Centre
- Isaac Newton Lecture at Lincoln University
- Theatre trips
- BBC Good Food Show
- Art Galleries

Provider Access Legislation (PAL)
Bourne Academy arranges a range of encounters with providers of technical education or apprenticeships as detailed in the calendar above. This is to ensure that there are:
- Two mandatory encounters with a provider of technical education or apprenticeships within Years 8 & 9, between 1 September in Year 8 and 28 February in Year 9
- Two mandatory encounters with a provider of technical education or apprenticeships within Years 10 & 11, between 1 September in Year 10 and 28 February in Year 11
- Two encounters with a provider of technical education or apprenticeships within Years 12 & 13, between 1 September in Year 12 and 28 February in Year 13.
