Teacher Training and Teaching Assistant events attract new staff

Last week, we held two recruitment events at Spalding Academy to meet the growing need for new Teachers and Teaching Assistants across the Trust, due to all schools being extremely popular as we continue to be oversubscribed and have an increase in student numbers.

We were very grateful for the incredible interest in both events, which attracted over 100 people looking to work in the Trust or start their Teacher Training journey with us and our partners Lincolnshire ITT.

We welcomed current and past students who want to become Teachers, undergraduate students at university, staff from other schools who want to join our Trust, and those who want to change career completely and have the most rewarding job of being a Teacher to educate and inspire future generations.

The ‘Get Into Teaching’ Open Evening was the first time we held this type of event since it was officially announced that South Lincolnshire Academies Trust are the lead partners offering Initial Teaching Training across Lincolnshire. This exciting partnership opens up opportunities for recent graduates and career changers to gain a recognised teaching qualification and gain a placement in Lincolnshire secondary schools.

Dr Nicki Shore, Director of Lincolnshire ITT presented the different training pathways available, what the entry requirements are, how the training works alongside work placements as well as the exceptional support that ITT trainees receive during time on the programme.

The ‘Become a Teaching Assistant’ Information Evening was a more informal event where interested people could drop-in and speak to members of the SEN team to find out about the opportunities available and ask any questions they have. Starting as a Teaching Assistant is a great way to progress your career as this could lead to teaching and support roles in the future.
