Gymnasts gain great experience at Superzone Trampoline Competition

A group of nine talented gymnasts from Years 7 and 8 represented Bourne Academy last week by taking part in the annual South Lincolnshire KS3 Trampoline Superzone Competition, which was held at University Academy Long Sutton.

Our students took part in the inter-school competition across four different categories (novice, intermediate, advanced, and elite). This involved the students performing a set solo routine in front of all competitors and were judged based on their individual performances. For many of our students, this was their first ever trampolining competition so were a little nervous as they didn’t know what to expect.

A special mention to Hollie Glover in Year 7 (pictured above), who was awarded first place in the Intermediate category. After a long wait throughout the day, Hollie performed her routine very confidently and fluently.

The Superzone competition is a team sport where the top five individual scores are added together to give an overall team score. Bourne Academy took 5th place out of all the competing schools.

Miss Lyn-Kew, Teacher of PE and Science said “All students who participated are an absolute credit to Bourne Academy and should be very proud of their performances and conduct throughout the day. Although the nerves at the beginning of the day were very high, the students all performed successfully and extremely well and became more confident throughout the day.”
