To give our Year 10 GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition students a real-life experience of a working restaurant, we arranged for them to visit the Katana Restaurant in Grantham to experience authentic Japanese cuisine.

On the visit, the kitchen was turned into the classroom as our students (and staff) had a personalised experience where an expert Teppanyaki Chef created an amazing three course meal with theatrical skills.

As well as learning about a variety of Japanese dishes and how they are cooked, our students also had a ‘question and answer’ session with the trained chef about his experiences and career journey.

The trip was designed to broadened their culinary horizons by learning new cooking techniques and discovering how fresh ingredients that we are all familiar with can be used in different cuisines.
