Life of Pi demonstrates that almost anything is possible on stage
Experiencing live theatre in a variety of professional settings plays an important part of studying Performing Arts at KS4 and Sixth Form, which is why our drama department organise many great opportunities throughout the course.
Our students in Years 10 to 13 had a fantastic trip to watch the awarding-winning play ‘Life of Pi’ at the Curve Theatre in Leicester to demonstrate that almost anything is possible on stage.
The play is based on the book of the same name which has sold over fifteen million copies worldwide and is a powerful story of endurance and hope. After an epic storm in the Pacific Ocean, Pi is stranded on a lifeboat with four other survivors – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Royal Bengal tiger.
The technical wizardry on display was mind-blowing with jaw-dropping projections and intricate puppetry bringing the ocean, and it’s inhabitants, to life.
With the Year 11 and 13 exams taking place soon it was a great opportunity for students to see a professional production full of physical theatre, movement and raw emotion. The students thoroughly enjoyed the performance and left the theatre amazed at the spectacle that had taken place on stage.
