National Day of Reflection
National Day of Reflection 23 March 2021
This day marks one year since the start of the first UK lockdown. During that year, more than 120,000 people have died with COVID-19 and many more from other causes, leaving millions bereaved, with restrictions affecting their ability to grieve as they normally would.
Many organisations will be working in partnership to organise and participate in this, a day of reflection, to offer us the opportunity to Reflect, to Connect, and to Support.
What will be happening?
There will be a minute of reflection at midday on 23 March in all our schools, which students will mark from in their classrooms, and we will be ringing the school bell at the start and end of a one-minute silence.
During this minute silence, we will be encouraging our students to use this time to pause and reflect on everything that has happened in the last year.
Nationally on this day, we are all encouraged to make contact with someone who is grieving, struggling in some way, or who is just in your thoughts. This can be through sending a kind message, making a phone call, sending a card or dropping off some flowers.
