18 Bourne Academy students selected for the County Athletic Squad
Donovan Capes in Year 12 won both the Senior Shot and Senior Discus competitions
Students from Bourne Academy took the trip to the South Kesteven Athletics Stadium in Grantham last week to compete in the County Athletics Championships. We are incredibly proud of how they performed, especially as 18 of our students have been selected to represent the South Lincolnshire County Athletic Squad.
A special congratulations goes to Donovan Capes in Year 12 who won both the Senior Shot and Senior Discus competitions. Donovan is now the County Champion for both events and will be representing Lincolnshire at the National Schools Finals in July 2022.
Other notable student successes include Oliver Barber (Year 10) who won the 400m final and is now the County Champion for the Inter Boys, Celine Acheampong (Year 7) came 3rd in the 100m and helped the Inter Girls relay team to win 1st place, Daisy Hay (Year 10) came 3rd in the Inter Girls 800m and Izobella Gillick (Year 10) who was part of the winning Inter Girls relay team.
Miss Ged Coles, Director of Sport & Physical Education said “All students were a real credit to the school, supporting each other and cheering their teams on throughout the whole day. Well done to everyone involved as it was a fantastic day with some outstanding achievements.”

- Cameron Crooks – 4th in Javelin IB
- Henry Moxley – 4th in 200m IB and 2nd in relay IB
- Izobella Gillick – 5th in 100m IG, 6th in Long Jump and 1st in relay
- Zara Johnson – 5th in Triple Jump IG and 7th in Long Jump IG
- Keira Webb – 6th in Shot Putt JG
- Charlotte Walker – 7th in Triple Jump IG
- Kaia Gibbons – 8th in Long Jump and 9th in Shot Putt Yr7G
- Scarlett Wilkinson – 9th in Javelin IG
- Megan Wise – 10th in 800m JG
- Evie Benson – 12th in Shot Putt JG
- Evie Hall – 5th in heat for 300m JG
We are also pleased that Ted Ash and Fern Richards have both been selected for the squad.
