Year 8 Multi-Agency Day delivered by Stay Safe Partnership
Bourne Academy delivers a comprehensive PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic) programme to educate students about a variety of topics, which are age appropriate for each Year group.
The Lincolnshire Stay Safe Partnership have a team of experienced guest speakers who work with young people in schools and they delivered five workshops for our Year 8 students in a Multi-Agency Day, which included:
- Fire Safety by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue
- Anti-Social Behaviour by Lincolnshire Police
- Online Safety by Lincolnshire County Council
- Alcohol and Drug Awareness by We Are With You
- Healthy Relationships by Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Partnership
Our students received expert knowledge and guidance about these important issues that are facing young people in the sessions, which took place across the whole school day. There were opportunities for students to participate and contribute during the workshops.
The guest speakers commented that our students really engaged in the discussions, taking each topic seriously and asked insightful questions.
Our PSHE programme was one of the strengths highlighted in the recent Ofsted report for Bourne Academy, where it stated “Leaders prioritise students personal development. They build students confidence and resilience. The PSHE education curriculum, which leaders have redeveloped, is highly ambitious. Pupils are well prepared for life in modern Britain.”
