National scheme in schools creating period equality for all
Bourne Academy are part of a national scheme funded by the Department for Education, which is designed to end period shaming and period poverty by being able to provide period products, such as pads and tampons.
This term, there was an assembly for Year 7 and Year 8 girls to reduce the stigma around periods and encourage students to access period products when needed to ensure no student has to avoid school because they cannot afford period products.
The products were available at the assembly plus both disposable and reusable products will be available for free from the PSHE Department/Lead, Year Leads, Pastoral Leads, PE Department and the Medical Room.
