National Cross Country Cup Regional Round Results

National Cross Country Cup Regional Round Results

This year, the Inter Boys Team progressed through to the ‘Regional Round’ of the ESAA National Cross Country Cup, which took place on a Saturday at Mount St Mary’s College near Sheffield.

In the Regional Round there were ten other schools who qualified for the race from across East Midlands and Yorkshire so this was already a fantastic achievement for the school.

Cross Country is not an individual race but actually a team event where six runners make a team with the top four scores counting towards the team result. In order to qualify for the National Finals in Newquay, the team had to be in the top three lowest scores.

On the day, the course was in excellent condition making it a very fast course so the race was going to be tough and demanding for all runners.

There was a tremendous result by Ted Ash who once again finished in first place in the race. Ted started off very strong as he was already in 4th position after the first lap. In the second lap he moved into 3rd place and with just 500 metres to go, he made a strong calculated sprint to the finish which saw him take first place with just one metre to go!

The whole team put 100% into the race against a strong field of runners. They have made the school incredibly proud and achieved a total score of 108 points.
