PSHE Day included fun educational activities, workshops and guest speakers
Throughout the academic year, we embed a variety of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) topics into afternoon registration sessions, then three times a year we hold a PSHE Day where the whole school are involved.
The day gives students the opportunity to take part in a special timetable of activities, talks and workshops that were specifically designed for their age group. Depending on the activity, these were led by our teachers or from external guest speakers and organisations.
Year 7 learnt about fire safety from Lincolnshire Fire Service and had sessions on online safety and anti-social behaviour. They were also able to experience the blurry effects of alcohol by wearing special ‘beer goggles’ without any drink being consumed!
After the success of running an Escape Room activity last month with the Sixth Form, we run this with Year 8 and Year 9 to test their logical thinking and teamwork. They also enjoyed various other careers related events including the Hot Air Balloon Challenge to work out who they would save.
Year 10 learnt CPR skills and had awareness sessions about alcohol, financial management and teenage pregnancy. They then had an inspirational guest speaker from ‘Aim A Little Higher’ who passed on their personal experiences to motivate and raise student aspirations.
For our Sixth Form, they had guest speakers, team building activities and learnt life skills which are essential if they go to university, such as food safety and how to cook some staple student foods such as a Cheese Toastie (aka the Croque-monsieur), a pizza including how to make the dough and a spaghetti bolognaise. Judging by the amazing aroma from their cooking, we feel very confident they will survive after leaving home.
Thank you to Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire Service, We Are With You and Aim A Little Higher for taking the time to speak to our students.
