PE changing rooms are a winning sports facility

Our brand-new PE changing rooms will be open to students from Monday 14th March 2022 and were officially opened by Mr Matt Sammy, Head of School, Ms Ged Coles, Director of Sport & Physical Education, Mr Matt Leonard, Head of Boys PE plus Year 10 students Ted Ash and Daisy Hay.
The modern changing facilities are a £250,000 investment made by Bourne Academy to make participating in sports more comfortable for our students with two separate changing areas and the luxury of underfloor heating. The lighting use LEDs and are on a motion sensor making them more energy efficient.
The modern changing rooms have space for over 60 students on each floor
Located over two floors, there will now be even more space for our students and travelling teams from other schools to change and keep their clothes and personal belonging clean and safe.
They are conveniently located to the rear of the school next to K Block giving easy access to our grass pitches, outdoor astro pitch and the sports hall. There are ramps leading up to the building so they are fully accessible to all students and toilets can be accessed from the outside for easy access during lessons or matches.

Ted Ash and Daisy Hay were the first students at Bourne Academy to have a look inside the new changing rooms and both will be competing in the National Cross-Country Championships in Kent on Saturday 19th March 2022. On seeing the new facility for the first time, Ted said “I am pleased with how warm it is, which will be greatly appreciated after the cold football matches in the winter” and Daisy commented “The rooms as so much bigger giving us a lot more space to get changed.”
Mr Matt Sammy, Head of School said “I am delighted to announce the brand-new changing rooms officially open. We are privileged to have a wide range of excellent resources at Bourne Academy; however, this new addition will provide our students with an outstanding facility which will be well utilised for both PE lessons, as well as the extensive extra-curricular provision. We are all incredibly excited to have this exceptional new building and I am confident that our students will reap the benefits of the underfloor heating in those cold winter months!“
