Year 9 Football Team on target again as they are in the County Cup Final

After a nail biting semi-final against Spalding Grammar School, were are incredibly proud that our Year 9 Football Team have reached the County Cup Final.

Their match went to penalties again after the score was 1-1 at extra-time and all of the players stepped up with confidence as they won 8-7 on penalties.

Mr Dennis, Teacher of Physical Education said “This is a fantastic achievement for all who have been involved. The boys were denied the opportunity to play in the Cup Final they reached in Year 7 due to Covid, so this feels like redemption for them. They had to battle not only against the opposition but the poor conditions which influenced the way we like to play football, but through some assured penalty taking and a goalkeeping save we progressed through in the shootout.”

The other semi-final is still to be played so we are now waiting who will meet us in the cup final, but whoever the team face, we know they will do their best and make the school proud.
