Mathematicians rewarded for success in National Maths Competition
Our students love maths so much that they dedicate their lunchtimes to attend Maths Club run by Miss Potter. In the club, they use their skills and quick thinking to solve problems and engage in tasks which require an application of their knowledge to lots of different contexts.
The extra effort and dedication has certainly paid off when they recently took part in the UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge. This was a 60 minute multiple choice challenge that encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency in using basic mathematic techniques to solve interesting problems.
Bourne Academy students received a selection of Bronze and Silver certificates and there is a special mention for Oliver Fowkes who achieved the award for ‘Best in School’.
