Increase in Sixth Form students applying to university
The Sixth Form at Bourne Academy has seen a continued increase in students applying to university with 72% of students this year choosing to continue their studies and apply for a degree.
Students who want to start university in September 2023 had to apply by the UCAS deadline of 25th January 2023 and many of our students had applied before this deadline with over a third already receiving all of their offers. Last year, 99% of students of students went to their first-choice university.
There are a diverse range of degrees applied for ranging from Medicine to Musical Theatre, Law to Nutrition, Economics to Forensics, Engineering to Nursing, Computing to Sports Coaching and Criminology to Zoology.
For the students who have not made an application they can still apply for a university place during UCAS Clearing (from 5th July 2023), although the admissions departments at many universities will let students know if they can offer them a place before UCAS Clearing starts.
Students should always use the experience and knowledge of Mrs Barber, Careers & Aspirations Lead who manages the UCAS application process for students and can provide help with choosing choices, their UCAS application and writing personal statements.
