Careers Fair inspires students to prepare for their future

Bourne Academy welcomed over 40 exhibitors to our annual Careers Fair last week. This is always a really important event in our school calendar, which is available for students in all years and their parents/carers.
This event was held during the school day for Years 9 to 13 and also after school for all Years so students could visit the exhibitors during the day and then bring their parents/carers along after school to further their preparation for the future.
The variety of employers and businesses exhibiting included:
- Business and Professional
- Care, Medical and Education
- Further and Higher Education
- Manufacturing, Construction and Engineering
- Uniformed Services
All of the exhibitors were very impressed with how interested and professional our students were to find out more about what they could achieve in their future. The exhibitors were also impressed with the amount of questions students had.
“The different university exhibitors were really helpful today and has confirmed my intention to study Accounting & Finance at university.”
Year 11 student
“I couldn’t believe the atmosphere of this Careers Fair and seeing the excitement of everyone who attended the afternoon session. I am so pleased the school can offer events like this so my child can think about their future and career prospects.”
Parent/carer
“I had never considered to be a truck driver, but having the opportunity to sit in the truck cabin and finding out I can earn well over £45,000 a year is something I may consider for the future!”
Year 9 student
“The Careers Fair was simply amazing and my child is now struggling to decide what they want to do in the future as their eyes were well and truly opened to the many pathways available! Thank you so much for this fabulous event.”
Parent/carer
Our school aims to support every student to help them explore their options available at both post-16 and post-18 from the outstanding careers team based in our school. This Careers Fair is just part of an annual schedule of activities and events for years 7 to 13, which far exceeds the framework that schools have to follow.
For more information about the careers, advice, and guidance provided to students visit the Careers section on the website.
Below is the programme from the event, which contains further information about each of the exhibitors.
