Bourne students are winners in Rotary Young Writer Competition

Each year, Rotary organise a national Young Writer competition to encourage young people to demonstrate their creative writing skills and let their imagination run wild.

The theme for the competition this year was ‘Rebuilding Lives and Rebuilding Communities’ and students could choose to write a fictional or non-fiction short story or poem.

We were delighted that entries from three Bourne Academy students have received prizes in the local heats of the competition.

Eva-Rose Dubell in Year 7 received FIRST PRIZE in the Intermediate category for 11-13 years and her winning entry will now go forward to represent the local area in the District Finals of this national competition.

Aleksandrs Nesterins, also in Year 7 received a Commended in the Intermediate category and Summer Petler in Year 11 received a Commended in the Senior category for 14-17 years as well.

Well done to all three students for being recognised for their outstanding writing skills.
