Ambition Reading Challenge broadens our students' horizons

Before the Easter holidays, we launched the Ambition Reading Challenge to promote the love of reading and encourage students to read the ‘classics’ across a wide range of genres including adventure, fantasy, history, mystery and general fiction.

The challenge for students was to read any ten books from our specially curated list of 50 classics that have been chosen for their enjoyment and challenging nature.

Congratulations to Zoe Okagbare in Year 7, and Roxie Bates and Mae Risk in Year 10 who are the first students to complete the challenge and they each received £15 worth of book tokens, 250 achievement points and a special Ambition Reading badge for their efforts.

When students have completed reading their ten books, they can then write a review of their favourite book in the Ambition Reading Challenge booklet. Zoe’s favourite book was ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ as she liked that it had so many cliff-hangers especially the plot twist at the end. Black Beauty was the favourite of both Roxie and Mae who were taken by the contrasting themes of kindness, respect and compassion alongside the history of animal cruelty in Victorian England.

The Ambition Reading Challenge booklets and the choice of 50 classic books are available from the school library and details can be seen below.
