Sports Leaders host an inclusive Panathlon event for local primary schools

Through our excellent links with Lincolnshire School Games who work with schools to increase competition, participation and leadership for young people to take part in sport, last week we hosted a Panathlon event for local primary schools.

This gave an excellent opportunity for our Year 9 Sports Leaders to support School Games with the running of the event, scoring the different activities and provide plenty of encouragement for all the participants.

Panathlon is a national charity that provides young people with disabilities and special educational needs the opportunity to take part in competitive sport. This included events like Boccia, New Age Curling and Precision Bean Bag.

Mr Dennis, Teacher of PE who runs the Sports Leaders course at Bourne Academy said “The day was packed with fun and teamwork as the primary pupils enjoyed the sporting activities. Our students made sure every child felt included and celebrated. Their positivity and encouragement created an amazing atmosphere where smiles never stopped. They were outstanding role models and a credit to Bourne Academy.”
