Three wins and three clean sheets secure title for Year 9 boys team
The SLAT Sports Games feature all four schools in the Trust and is a tournament where all schools play each other in a mini-tournament. Each year group can then earn points that go towards an overall league table featuring the results from all years.
It was the turn of the Year 9 Boys Football Team to compete in their tournament, and they secured the championship and maximum points with a perfect record by winning all three games and conceding no goals with an unbreakable defence.
In the first game against Giles Academy, who were last year’s champions, we controlled the match showing confidence on the ball and discipline at the back. Our attacking pressure paid off with three well taken goals, sealing an impressive 3–0 win.
We then faced Spalding Academy where we remain composed and organised with a goal in each half to secure a 2-0 victory that meant we just needed to avoid defeat in the final match to secure the title.
The decisive game was against Cowley Academy and we continued to play with energy and purpose scoring twice and keeping another clean sheet as the team won 2-0 and the boys were deservedly crowned tournament champions.
Mr Dennis, Teacher of PE said “Across all three matches, Bourne Academy demonstrated teamwork, resilience, and clinical finishing. Their unbeaten, unscored against record stands as a testament to both their attacking quality and defensive discipline.”
