Careers Fair inspires students to prepare for their future

Bourne Academy welcomed over 1,000 students and over 40 exhibitors to the annual Careers Fair at a daytime event on Tuesday 12 October 2021 as well as inviting parents to an after-school session to give everyone an opportunity to prepare for their future.

As a school with students from years 7 to 13, we always support students whether they want to progress to higher education, apprenticeships or employment. The fair welcomed universities, colleges as well as our very own sixth form, plus apprenticeship providers, local and national employers including our main sponsor Bakkavor and the NHS, RAF, British Army and Lincolnshire Police.

The feedback from these exhibitors was how engaging and professional our students were and genuinely interested in improving their career prospects. When speaking to both students and parents we know the event has helped them identify new career opportunities and understand how students can work towards their dream job.

Mrs Lucy Conley, Executive Headteacher said “This is such an important event in our school calendar which is available for all of our students and parents. As a school who supports every student to help them explore their options available at both post-16 and post-18, we have an outstanding careers team based in our school. We have an annual schedule of activities and events for years 7 to 13, which far exceeds the framework that schools have to follow.”

Mrs Libby Barber, Careers & Aspirations Lead said “We would like to thank Bakkavor for generously sponsoring the event and all of the exhibitors who attended and gave up their valuable time to speak to our students and make the event so engaging and interesting. Meeting employers and representatives from industry is so important to help our students explore their options and find out the amazing opportunities available after successfully completing their studies at Bourne Academy.”
