Parent feedback and comments from the recent annual survey

In the autumn term, the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust conducted an annual survey with students, parents and staff from all three schools who are part of our Trust. We had an overwhelming response with 1,390 students, 563 parents and 278 staff giving their feedback, which was completely anonymous.

From this we can identify where we need to make improvements but this also gives us an indication of how you think we are doing.

As you have taken your time to give us your feedback, we wanted to share with you some of the results and comments from parents that were specific to Bourne Academy.

Parents results

96% – My child feels safe at Bourne Academy

94% – I feel my child is doing well at Bourne Academy

93% – My child is happy at Bourne Academy

Parents comments

“As a new parent of a child in the school I cannot express highly enough how welcoming, supportive and informative the school has been for both parents and child. Everything from initial communication, uniform shop, summer school and open evening has been exceptional. When I’ve emailed in for some advice I have had fast, kind and supportive responses returned and even a call backing it up. My son is happy and thriving in such a short time of attending. It was very apparent during communications and especially the open evening how much the teachers truly love their subjects and inspired approach to teaching the curriculum in their subjects. Even my 4 year old daughter wanted to stay playing the French games to learn new words and did art when we looked around. Well done Bourne Academy – we are very pleased with every aspect of building our parent school partnership for the foreseeable future.”

“We were worried about the transition after a disrupted year due to Covid. We need not have worried at all, it was such a smooth process and the teaching staff have been fantastic.”

“My daughter switched to your Sixth Form as she wished to do BTECs as well as an A-level. We have been very impressed as able to fit work experience within the school week.”

“There is a strong sense of community/family. Students are fully supported and parents are kept up to date with strong communication, which for me makes it all feel very joined up.”

“The staff have been fantastic at supporting my son with careers from explaining targets to discussing the options he could take, which has helped enormously with his next steps.”

“I always feel that the school creates a very positive approach in general, which seems to run throughout the school and is very evident if you attend any school events.”

“I am amazed at how the school with nearly 2,000 children manage to treat my child as an individual!”

“There is an excellent focus on effort and behaviour to get the right results in the right way! The behaviour points system is very positive.”

“Pastoral care and discipline are very good, which contributes to the students positive behaviour.”

“You treat every student as an individual, understanding that each child is unique and has different needs and abilities.”

“We were well informed on all matters and the summer school has really helped my child transition to the school.”

“We love the teacher presence around the grounds of the school in a morning and at home time. This takes away the anxiety as her parents that she is safe.”

“Show My Homework is a very useful tool to understand homework and behaviour feedback and was great to facilitate learning whilst in lockdown or whilst isolating.”

“We asked the school for help to diagnose a problem and within just a few days this was done. Nothing has been too much trouble and any questions are answered very quickly.”

“When I’ve attended parent’s evenings, I feel all school staff speak from a point of knowing what his abilities are and areas in which he needs support.”

“From what my children say, the staff seem to respect the pupils and actively engage with them and enthuse them.”
