A spine-tingling encounter with The Woman in Black!
Our Year 10 and Year 11 students braved a visit to the ‘supposedly’ haunted The Fortune Theatre in London last Thursday to watch the spine-tingling ‘The Woman in Black’. The play is described as “the most terrifying live theatre experience in the world” and tells the story of a young lawyer named Arthur Kipps and his encounters with the ghostly woman dressed in black!
The play, studied by Year 10 Performing Arts students, is famous for its use of multi-role, multi-use props and set, quick costume changes plus a clever use of lighting and sound. There were plenty of jump scares and screams throughout the evening as the two actors kept the audience on the edge of their seat and left them wanting more with the unexpected twist ending!
Year 10 students, David and Miles, said that they found the performance “spine chilling and really immersive with a very effective use of sound and smoke.”
The Woman in Black, the second longest running West End play, will finish it’s 33 year run at The Fortune Theatre in March 2023.
