Sharing best practice and ideas for the Bedrock Learning platform

One of the learning platforms Bourne Academy utilises to improve the literacy and vocabulary of our students is Bedrock Learning. We are one of 900 schools in the UK that Bedrock works with and are proud to have some of the highest engagement and completion levels amongst all schools. We encourage use of this online tool as it really helps with student attainment at the end of Key Stage 4 across all subjects.

We were therefore delighted to welcome Mr Andy Sammons, Head of Teaching & Learning at Bedrock Learning, for a visit to our school to speak to students and staff about the platform is used in the classroom and at home.

During the visit, Andy conducted a workshop with a group of our Year 8 students and had the opportunity to complete a training session with our staff. His focus was reviewing the Bedrock provision at school and looking at ways we could further use this brilliant learning tool.

The students who took part enjoyed a buffet lunch whilst talking to Andy about their Bedrock experiences and provided feedback on the system, giving them the opportunity to shape future developments. As a result of their hard work, Bedrock gifted the students a brand new book of their choice.

Mrs Bland, Trust Executive Education Director and Lead of the Trust Communications Agenda said “We were extremely lucky to welcome Andy to Bourne Academy today. His session was inspirational for both staff and students and we took a lot of value out of the day. As usual, our students were excellent ambassadors and Andy was very impressed with their contributions.”
