Building work to start in 2026 for a new four classroom extension

Bourne Academy reception area with secure access completed in September 2025

To meet the need for additional teaching space at Bourne Academy, due to an increase in the pupil admission numbers (PAN) for Year 7 and recent growth in the SLAT Sixth Form, work will start in 2026 on a new four classroom extension.

The extension will be located at the back of the school utilising unused space on the school grounds.

The new classroom extension will further expand the modern teaching spaces available for a growing curriculum and meet capacity where the school PAN for Year 7 has increased from 250 to 260.

The SLAT Sixth Form at Bourne Academy has also grown significantly in recent years from just over 200 students to now over 350 students with even more students wanting to join the Sixth Form from schools across the region.

The work on the extension will commence in the New Year and is scheduled to take approximately eight months to complete.

The project is part of an on-going capital investment programme with this basic needs project being funded by Lincolnshire County Council and South Lincolnshire Academies Trust.

Other recent building developments at Bourne Academy include refurbished teaching classrooms across the school, a new reception area with secure access, expanded pastoral areas, new PE changing rooms, new toilets and investments in energy efficient glazing and smart lighting.
