Results from the South Lincolnshire Cross Country Trials

Students from Bourne Academy have once again excelled in Cross Country as six students have been selected to represent Lincolnshire at the Regional and National Finals.

Last weekend, we had thirteen runners take part in the Cross Country Trials for the South Lincolnshire Superzone at Burghley House in Stamford.

In fresh but bright and sunny conditions, the races were extremely competitive and this year there was a larger number of runners in all of the races. The courses were a mix of terrains; ranging from grass, muddy tracks and muddy fields, but this did not deter our runners who were keen to do their best.

Ted Ash in Year 12 came 4th in the Senior Boys competition, which means he will now represent Lincolnshire at the Regional finals in February and also the National finals in Pontefract in March.

Finlay Smith in Year 8 came 7th in the Junior Boys race, which also means he will represent Lincolnshire at the Anglian Championships and he also has a chance to qualify for the National finals in March.

Jodie Walton came 12th in the Inter Girls race and qualifies for the Regional championships plus the Year 7 trio of Stanley Millar (15th), Issac McLean (16th) and Jack Burke (18th) will also represent Lincolnshire at the Anglian Championships in March.

Ms Coles, Director of Sport & PE said “This is a fantastic achievement for the runners! All our competitors put their all in to their races with some fantastic results. The students was a real credit to the school and performed with great determination in their races.”
