Results from the South Lincolnshire Cross Country Trials

Ten students from Bourne Academy were aiming to represent Lincolnshire in the Regional and National Finals as they competed in the South Lincolnshire Superzone at the County X-Country championships, held at Burghley House in Stamford.

The running conditions were bright and sunny, but with a freezing hard ground with a mix of terrains; ranging from grass, tracks and frozen fields, but this did not deter our runners who were keen to do their best.

Ted Ash in Year 13 came 2nd in the Senior Boys competition, which means he will now represent Lincolnshire at both the Regional finals in February 2025 and the National finals in March 2025.

Finlay Smith in Year 9 came 8th in the Junior Boys category, which also means he will represent Lincolnshire at the Anglian championships and he also has a chance to qualify for the National finals in March 2025.

Jodie Walton in Year 11 and Tristain Atkins in Year 8 both put in excellent performances and only just missed out on qualifying for the Regional finals.

Ms Coles, Director of Sport & PE said “The races were extremely competitive with the very best runners from South Lincolnshire taking part. All our students were a real credit to the school and performed with great determination in their races. Well done to all the runners.”
