Food Bank Appeal 2020
We support a nationwide network of food banks and together we provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
There are more than 1,200 food bank centres in our network, about two thirds of the food banks in the UK. We support these food banks to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis (for
instance by advice agencies, GPs, social services and schools), as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face. More than 14 million people in the UK live below the poverty line. We understand that every person’s struggle with poverty is different and that it takes more than food to end hunger. So we bring together the experiences of food banks in our network, and their communities, to challenge the structural issues that lock people in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
HOW CAN WE HELP?
Please bring in to school the items requested below between Monday 7th December – Friday 11th December
a. Puddings – rice pudding, Angel Delight, jelly, custard, sponge puddings, biscuits;
b. Tins – tinned pies, tinned ham, tinned salmon, tinned tuna, tinned potatoes, tinned vegetables;
c. Household goods – washing up liquid, shampoo, deodorant, shower gel, shaving foam, soap;
d. Christmas goods- sweets, minced pies, selection boxes, Christmas puddings;
e. Anything else – stuffing mix, gravy granules, UHT milk, long life orange juice, sandwich paste.
Where do I put the items?
Each year group bubble will have a box.
Drop/ lay them carefully in to the boxes located on your yards as you attend school
Each day they will be collected and then stored safely to be passed on to the Food Bank in Bourne.
