Freddie rises up the boxing ranks to number 3 in England
It has been an eventful year for Sixth Form student Freddie Brooks as one of his extra-curricular activities includes Boxing. Such is Freddie’s dedication, motivation and skill in the boxing ring, that he has ended the year ranked number 3 in England.
In November, Freddie who trains with ‘Top Yard School of Boxing’ in Peterborough qualified for the ‘England Boxing National Youth Cadet Championships 2021’, which features the cream of young boxers from across England. Competing in the Male Youth Cadet Under 64kg category, he used his height and reach to his advantage to win both of his fights in the pre-quarters (13th November) and quarter finals (20th November) that were held in Bristol.
This then set up a semi final clash in Oxford on 27th November with Levi Barnes who is ranked number 1 in England and the five times National Champion and England representative. Freddie lost the bout in the semi’s, but by reaching this stage of the National Championships, he is now ranked number 3 in England and came away with the bronze medal.
