Isabella is the first student to achieve the GOLD Aspire Award

Isabella Afford (Year 8) with Mr McQueen, Head of Keller House

Congratulations to Isabella Afford in Year 8 who is the first student at Bourne Academy to achieve the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards in our Aspire passport challenges. She proudly received her Gold award in the House assembly and was presented with a Gold badge and certificate by Mr McQueen, Head of Keller House.

The Aspire awards is a new initiative that was launched at the start of the academic year for students in Years 7 to 9 to a variety of challenges at school or at home. There are a diverse range of challenges to encourage students to learn new skills, help them out of their comfort zone, work with teachers and their family, but ultimately be enjoyable.

Isabella has fully embraced the challenges from helping out at the Open Evening in September, feeding her dog and cat at home, reading dozens of books to complete Accelerated Reader quizzes, baking a scrumptious Kinder Bueno cake with her dad, demonstrating her commitment to out of school activities by attending Scouts every week, creating a PowerPoint presentation about actress Emma Watson and performing a scene from The Grinch with the drama group in the Winter Concert.

Mr McQueen, Head of Keller House said “I am very proud of Isabella for being the first student at Bourne Academy to complete the Gold award on her Aspire passport. Her tenacity and drive to excel should be an inspiration to other students across the House system – she is a credit to the school.”
