Disney's High School Musical brings energy to the school stage
One of the highlights in the school calendar is our annual musical, which is the finale of the academic year. Last year, this was Disney’s High School Musical On Stage!, which was full of energy with catchy songs, dance routines and a story of friendship, first love and acceptance.
From Year 7 to Sixth Form, we have an incredibly talented and dedicated group of over 80 students who are passionate about drama and music. This musical production gives an amazing opportunity for them to develop and showcase their skills in front of a live audience.
Our students commit their own time to after school rehearsals over nine months, culminating into four live performances. We invited local primary schools for the first performance and the school hall was then packed for a further three evening performances.
The audiences were treated to ‘first class’ performances with superb singing, dancing and acting skills. This was complemented with our incredible live band who add an extra dimension to the show. Behind the scenes there is a brilliant student team involving a Student Director, tech support and backstage support.
The Art department at Bourne Academy were also involved as they created a stunning set with props for the production. This involved a team of Student Art Ambassadors along with Mrs Scott and Mr Walker who designed and created the stage elements in the show.
A special mention goes to Mr Wood, Mrs Parker, Mr Swinn, Mr Brindley, Ms O’Brien and Miss Willcock from the Performing Arts and Music departments who have dedicated so much time and effort to ensure that the performances were outstanding.
We hope that everyone who came to any of the performances enjoyed the show and are looking forward to our next production in 2025.
