Overwhelming generosity from staff for our Just Giving Tree campaign
During Christmas time, we know there are local families who may have fallen on hard times and find Christmas a very difficult and challenging time for various reasons.
This is why our Safeguarding team set up a ‘Just Giving Tree’, where staff can pick a tag from the Christmas tree (which has whether the gift will be for a boy or girl and the age range) then they can buy an appropriate gift to donate.
All of the gifts are then collected by the Salvation Army who ensure that the presents are given to children to open on Christmas Day. Earlier this week, Jenny McPhee from the Bourne Salvation Army visited our school to collect the donations.
We were once again overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of staff as there was an incredible selection of nearly 100 presents such as toys, toiletries, jigsaws, board games, arts & crafts, sports equipment, books and stationery.
Mrs Kettle (Safeguarding Manager) and Mrs Carver (Safeguarding Officer) have done an amazing job to organise the fundraising and wanted to thank all of the staff at Bourne Academy for the generosity. They said “We have supported this charity for several years and it’s nice to give something back to the young people in our community who would otherwise miss out gifts at Christmas time.”
