Forget the Fantastic Four – meet our Elite Eleven

Our team of eleven motivated Year 10 and 11 students travelled to Boston College last week to compete in the annual Elite Eleven Competition where Bourne Academy finished 5th out of the whole of Lincolnshire.

Elite Eleven is a mixed inter-school sporting competition that involves 12 secondary schools from across Lincolnshire who compete against each other in a variety of indoor sporting challenges.

The competition took place at Boston College’s Peter Paine Performance Centre with challenges based around reaction speed, memory, agility and fitness plus sports activities such as power cycling, crazy golf, New Age Kurling, football targets, netball shooting and table tennis rallies.

The aim of the competition is to battle it out against other schools to win the most points whilst also testing the student’s commitment, teamwork and motivation.

At the end of the competition and before the results were announced, there was an inspirational talk from local bodybuilder and personal trainer Josh Blue.

Ms Ged Coles, SLAT Director of Sport & Physical Education said “The students were extremely competitive from the outset and worked unbelievably hard across all activities. They gave some outstanding performances in every round, showing a great deal of resilience as well as teamwork. This was especially evident in the memory game and reaction time challenge, where our students won both of these challenges.”
