We are excited to introduce our new Head Students for the academic year and congratulate them on being selected to represent Bourne Academy.
To be a Head Student at Bourne Academy, you need to be in Year 13 and show commitment to be involved with everything that is happening in and around the school.
Our Head Students will take on many responsibilities. They are important representatives for the school and role models to other students who they can relate to and seek help and guidance from. They have already been helping out with Open Evenings across the Trust and will be involved in talking about their experiences to inspire other students to follow their footsteps.
Choosing the Head Students was a tough decision for Mr Sammy, Head of School and Miss Double, Head of Sixth Form to make as all of the students who applied for the position gave their all with their presentations and interviews. Miss Double said “the standard of applicants was outstanding and because each of them has special qualities we would have appointed all of them if we could”.
Lewis Jackson – Head Student
Lewis first joined Bourne Academy in 2016 and since then he has been involved in every school production, so it’s no surprise that he is studying Performing Arts at Sixth Form. Most recently he starred as Captain Smolsky in Bugsy Malone. He is also studying the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) alongside Business and Geography. Lewis said “I’m really looking forward to representing Bourne Academy at many more future events”.
Anna Paskin – Head Student
Anna chose to join Bourne Academy in Year 12 after previously studying GCSEs at Bourne Grammar School. She has made an important contribution to our school in a short space of time and it feels like she has been at Bourne Academy since the beginning of Year 7. Like Lewis, she is studying four subjects at Sixth Form including the EPQ. Anna said “I like getting involved to provide positive changes to the school”.
Mason Bussey – Deputy Head Student
Mason is very excited to meet all the students to offer any help and advice that he can give, a skill he would be honing for when he is studying English Language, Business and Sport & Physical Activity. Mason said “I am approachable for all students so they can always ask me for help”.
Leona Fenwick – Deputy Head Student
Leona is studying Business, a subject where teamwork is key skill and she has always demonstrated this in her time at the school and playing in the netball team (where in the same team as Anna, they were crowned Superzone champions!). She is also studying Geography and Sociology. Her favourite colour is pink, which matches her bright personality. Leona said “I am really looking forward to working as a team to help the school”.
