Plastic recycling competition educates our impact on the ocean

Protecting our planet is one of the most important issues for our young people. This is why the Geography Department run a recycling themed competition in November for all students be part of and learn how everyone can make a difference.

During form times, students used plastics bought in from home to create sculptures with an ocean theme. The aim of the competition was to highlight the issue of plastics in the ocean and the need for improvement in the recycling system.

There were dozens of sculptures created which included animals, creatures, models, rafts and environmental messages. The effort and creativity was matched by the teamwork and thought gone into every sculpture.

Below are just some of the sculptures with all entries being judged so the winners will be announced very soon.
