One of the highlights of the year in the school calendar is our annual end of term musical production. This year did not disappoint as our talented cast of students thrilled audiences with four outstanding performances of ‘Rock of Ages’.
For the first performance, we welcomed Years 5 and 6 students from local primary schools to inspire them to pursue an interest in the arts when they start Bourne Academy. There were three further evening performances packed with the school community of family, students and staff.
Each show was full of electrifying energy with a soundtracks of rock anthems and powerful ballads from the 80s and a fun-filled story of romance, fame, and always believin’!
From Year 7 to Sixth Form, we have an incredibly talented and dedicated group of over 80 students who are passionate about drama and music. This musical production gives an amazing opportunity for them to develop and showcase their skills in front of a live audience. It was incredible to see so many Year 11 and Year 13 students dedicate their time to rehearsals and performances, especially when they come back after their examinations.
The audiences were treated to ‘first class’ performances with superb singing, choreography and acting skills. This was complemented with our incredible live band who add an extra dimension to the show. Behind the scenes there is a brilliant student team involving a Student Director, Student Choreographer and Tech Crew.
The Art department at Bourne Academy were also involved as they created a stunning set with props for the production. This involved a team of Student Art Ambassadors along with Mrs Scott and Mr Walker who designed and created the stage elements in the show.
A special mention goes to Mrs Parker, Mr Wood, Mr Swinn, Mr Brindley, Ms O’Brien and Mr Lee from the Performing Arts and Music departments who have dedicated so much time and effort to ensure that the performances were outstanding.
We hope that everyone who came to any of the performances enjoyed the show and are looking forward to our next production in 2026.
