Sixth Form celebrate outstanding A-level and BTEC results
Students at Bourne Academy Sixth Form have been celebrating their achievements with an outstanding set of exam results where 59% of A-level and BTEC qualifications were the equivalent of grade A* to A.
The Sixth Form at Bourne Academy offers different study pathways where students can study A-levels only, BTECs only or a combination of both.
The number of A* to A grades achieved at A-level is higher than in 2019, which is the last year grades were awarded without any adjustment due to the COVID pandemic. There were notable successes for specific A-level subjects with 77% of History students achieving A* to B and 71% of Psychology students achieving A* to B.
For the BTEC qualifications, an outstanding 76% of grades achieved were Distinction* or Distinction (equivalent to A* or A grade at A-level), with 30% being at the highest possible Distinction* grade. 100% of students studying IT & Computing and Health & Social Care achieved Distinction* or Distinction.
Overall the Sixth Form recorded a 99% pass rate across all exams with 81% of student grades achieved being equivalent to A* to C grades.
Mrs Lucy Conley, Chief Executive Officer at South Lincolnshire Academies Trust said “I am so pleased to be able to celebrate these exceptional results with the students at Bourne Academy. These students have coped incredibly over the last few years since having not being able to sit their GCSE examinations in Year 11. I am incredibly proud that they have adapted, worked hard throughout their time in Sixth Form and have produced a fantastic set of results. Following several years of grade adjustment due to the pandemic, we are happy to report that whilst results nationally have understandably been lower this year we have seen significant numbers of students achieve the highest possible grades and this is higher than 2019 levels. The attitudes of the students have been superb and we wish all of them the very best for the future.”
Mr Matt Sammy, Head of School at Bourne Academy added “It has been wonderful to celebrate the successes with students today. I would like to thank the Sixth Form team and teaching staff for all of their advice, guidance and outstanding teaching that students have received throughout their Sixth Form journey. The vast majority of students have achieved their first-choice university or apprenticeship offers and we wish them well in their future careers. Our Sixth Form has continued to expand and we are looking forward to welcoming a record number of new students joining our Sixth Form in September from secondary schools across the region.”
