Ski Trip 2021
Ski Trip 2021
After the success of the 2019 ski trip, we are pleased to announce that we will be running another trip during February half term of 2021 for students who will be in Years 9-13 (current Years 8-12). The trip will depart Bourne Academy on Friday 12th February and return on Saturday 20th February. We will be booking through the educational travel specialists ‘Equity’, who we have used for a number of previous trips and have been very satisfied with the quality of service and support they provide. They work closely with us during the whole tour planning process to ensure that your child will get the very best skiing experience whilst away.
We will be based once again in the popular resort of Aprica, which is situated in the north Italian Alps, close to the Swiss border. Aprica is ideal for school ski trips as the resort is small and friendly, with lots of amenities within walking distance to the accommodation and slopes. The slopes themselves offer a variety of different runs and are suitable for beginners to advanced skiers.
At this stage of planning, we estimate the cost to be approximately £1,135 per student, based on 40 students signing up. This will include coach transportation to and from Italy, return ferry crossings, 6 nights’ full board hotel accommodation, 4 hours of ski instruction per day and hire of skis, ski boots, helmets and poles. In addition to this, we have planned evening activities including a ‘Pizza Night’, ‘Bumboarding’ and a ‘Night Ski’ session followed by warming hot chocolate in a slope cafe. These activities are included in the price. Students will also receive a ski trip hoodie to take with them, and keep as a souvenir after the trip.
Please note that ski attire is not included in the price, (salopettes, ski jacket, ski goggles, gloves, thermals etc.) which will be an added cost to bear in mind. It can be useful to buy this at the end of the current ski season when sales are launched (April 2020). Shops such as Mountain Warehouse and Sports Direct often sell ski gear at very competitive prices.
If your son/daughter would like to sign up for this trip, please complete the attached expression of interest form and return to Mrs Atha in the front office no later than Thursday 6th February. In the event of the trip being oversubscribed, student’s behaviour points will be taken into consideration and a ranked order will be made. Those who do not make the initial list will be put on to the waiting list and informed if a place becomes available.
Once we have confirmed student names and numbers, we will write to inform you, and will outline the payment schedule. A deposit will be required shortly afterwards to confirm your son/daughter’s place on the trip.
If you have any questions about the trip, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
