Sports Leaders host an inclusive Panathlon event for local primary schools
Through our excellent links with Lincolnshire School Games who work with schools to increase competition, participation and leadership for young people to take part in sport, we hosted a Panathlon event with four local primary schools.
This gave an excellent opportunity for our Year 10 Sports Leaders to support School Games with the running of the event, scoring the different activities and provide plenty of encouragement for all the participants.
Panathlon is a national charity that provides young people with disabilities and special educational needs the opportunity to take part in competitive sport. This included events like Skittles, Volleybat and Precision Bean Bag.
Mr Dennis, Teacher of PE said “Throughout the day all the Year 10 students fully involved themselves into every event to ensure that everyone could take part and continued to enjoy all of the different sports. The Sports Leaders were a credit to themselves and the school.”
Rupert Gibson from Sport Games said “The Sports Leaders were polite, friendly and helpful with the primary children and staff. The primary school pupils and staff who came had a brilliant time was and potentially the only occasion these pupils will ever play sport for their schools. The excitement and happiness was amazing.”
