The top readers in school are reading over 250,000 words each

As part of our innovative ‘Accelerated Reader’ programme, we reward the students who have read the most words during a term.

Congratulations to William Thomson who read an amazing 401,199 words last term, which is the equivalent number of words to reading ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ FIVE TIMES over!

Our top readers last term were:

• 1st – 401,199 words – William Thompson
• 2nd – 340,312 words – Emily Cooper
• 3rd – 273,281 words – Alicia Goodson

The Accelerated Reader programme is undertaken by all year 7 and 8 students through six form periods a fortnight as well as during home-learning. This not only measures progress with reading but also measures engagement with the programme and the amount of words read.
