Sports Leaders host Wheelchair Sports Festival with Inspire+
Due to our excellent sporting facilities we regularly host events involving local schools and sporting organisations. This week, we were delighted to host an exciting Wheelchair Sports Festival with pupils from Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy.
The event was led by Chris Graves and Carl Millar from the sports and education charity Inspire+, and were supported by our dedicated Year 9 Sports Leaders.
They run a variety of sporting activities including basketball dribbling and shooting, slalom pushing and tag games using specialised wheelchairs. The primary pupils thoroughly enjoying trying out the new sports designed to encourage inclusive participation.
Our students were fantastic ambassadors for the school throughout the festival, and the whole group demonstrated excellent leadership skills and were really engaging, informative and supportive.
Mr Duggan, Head of PE said “The event was a huge success, with students thoroughly enjoying the experience and valuing the opportunity to take part in an activity they may not usually have the chance to try.”
