Music and drama acts dazzle audiences at our Winter Concerts
For the perfect end of year finale, there was a packed audience on Wednesday evening for our amazing Winter Concert featuring bands and soloists as well as vocal, instrumental, dance and drama performances. It was a fantastic feel good evening that family and friends enjoyed together at this special time of year.
The sell-out evening performance was brilliantly hosted by Lucas Barnatt and Jai Manzur in Year 13 who made this festive evening even more entertaining. With the audience arriving early, we had our resident DJ, Lara Cottam in Year 13 playing tracks to warm up the audience before the show starts.
In this two-hour extravaganza there were classic and modern Christmas songs such as ‘Last Christmas’, ‘Santa Baby’, ‘Fairytale of New York’, ‘Underneath The Tree’ and ‘Christmas Time Again’ plus a brilliant rendition from the musical ‘SIX’ offering something for everyone to enjoy.
The solo performances of ‘O Holy Night’ by Lucy Harrison, ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ by Meredith Marsh and the piano solo by Lilah Fincham were especially memorable as the audience held onto every note. Another highlight of the evening was from the KS3 Drama Club as they performed an entertaining scene from Stick Man.
As well as students from Years 7 to 13 at Bourne Academy, we were also pleased to welcome to the stage, the Spalding Academy Band who rocked out two festive songs.

In addition to the evening performance for family and friends, there were also five concerts on the last day of term for Years 7 to 11 featuring selected songs from Winter Concert. After the buzz from the night before, our students were amazing as they continued to perform every set with enthusiasm creating an uplifting atmosphere every time.
A special mention goes to Mr Brindley, Mr Swinn, Ms O’Brien, Mrs Parker and Mr Wood from the Music and Performing Arts departments who dedicate their time in rehearsals and planning these spectacular events.
They would also not be possible without the technical and backstage crew of Seb Glover, Austin Homewood, Flynn Huson and Charlie Sutherland who made all of the performances run smoothly.
Finally, a massive thank you also goes to the Sixth Form music students who have mentored all of the bands during lunchtime and after school rehearsals – their support has been nothing but inspirational to the younger students.
