Year 7 demonstrate great teamwork to win Trust football tournament

Our Year 7 boys football team emerged victorious in the SLAT football tournament when they competed against the other schools in our Trust.

This competition is a great platform for our students to demonstrate their footballing skills and sportsmanship while fostering friendly competition among participating schools. The tournament was held at Spalding Academy as this is a central location for all schools to meet.

In the opening match, we faced Giles Academy who proved to be a formidable opponent, but despite facing strong resistance, we managed to score two goals to secure a hard-fought 2-1 win. Our winning streak continued against Spalding Academy as the team used their tactical awareness and skills to their advantage to dominate the match as we won 3-1. The final game against Cowley Academy was a thrilling encounter and the team had to show their resilience to hold on and draw 2-2. This result meant we were undefeated and crowned the tournament champions.

Mr Housley, Head of PE at Bourne Academy said “The whole team showcased exceptional talent and determination in all their matches. The players showcased the true spirit of teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship. We were worthy champions as this capping off another successful season for the boys.”
